One of the most common questions we get from first-time buyers is whether to purchase a startup combo (a bundle like a heat press plus mug press, or a full 5-in-1 kit) or to buy individual machines one at a time as the business grows.
Combos make the most sense when you already know your product mix. If you're confident you'll be selling t-shirts and mugs from day one, a combo bundling both machines is usually priced better than buying each separately, and you only pay one shipping and setup cost.
Buying separately makes more sense when you're still testing what sells. Starting with a single, well-chosen machine — say, just a 15x15 heat press — lets you validate demand with a lower upfront cost, and you can add a mug press or badge machine later once you know that's where your orders are actually coming from.
Watch out for combos that bundle machines you won't use. A discount on a bundle isn't a saving if half the equipment sits unused. It's worth asking your supplier directly which combo matches the products you actually intend to sell, rather than picking the one with the biggest headline discount.
As a rule of thumb: if you already have committed orders or a clear product plan, a combo saves you money and time. If you're still exploring, start with one machine, get it profitable, then reinvest in the next one.
