Mug printing is often the first product people try when they get into sublimation, and for good reason — it needs relatively little space, a modest machine investment, and mugs sell year-round for birthdays, anniversaries, corporate gifting and festive occasions.
The core setup is simple: a mug heat press machine, a sublimation printer with sublimation ink, sublimation paper, and blank white sublimation mugs. Many beginners start with a combo machine that presses mugs alongside plates or caps, which keeps the initial investment lower while you test demand.
Getting consistent results comes down to three things — correct temperature (usually around 180–200°C depending on your mug coating), even pressure with a good silicone wrap, and accurate timing. Most mug press machines list a recommended time and temperature; write it down and stick to it rather than guessing each time.
For your first sales, look close to home before going wide — personalised photo mugs for friends and family, small batches for local shops, and festival-season pre-orders on social media are usually enough to validate demand before you invest in bulk blank stock.
Once mug orders are steady, many of our customers naturally expand into bottles, plates and photo frames using the same printer — the printer and ink are the shared investment, and each new blank type is a comparatively small add-on cost.
